WEDMORE PARISH COUNCIL

 

MINUTES of a Meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held at the Council Rooms, Grants Lane, Wedmore

on Wednesday 2nd March 2022 at 7.30.pm

 

Present:  Mrs S Worrall (Chair), Mrs I Beacom, Mrs J Candy, Mrs P Costello, Mrs B James-Lloyd,

  1. Declarations of Interest – Mrs J Candy declared an interest in 00001 as a close relative of the applicant

The Chairman adjourned the meeting to allow Mr Baxter to address the Committee.  The meeting then resumed.

50/22/00001/EC

Proposal:  Erection of a dwelling, attached garage and a drive with parking

Location:  Combe House, Combe Lane  Wedmore. BS28 4DZ

Applicant:  Mr & Miss Woodrow and Candy

COMMENT: Support.  This application is fully sustainable with discreet hidden pipework and outstanding architecture.  It will fill a gap between two existing properties with no detriment to the street scene and will enable a local person who grew up in the village to return with her family.

Proposal:  Erection of a self-build dwelling with attached garage and formation of a new vehicular access

Location:  Land to West of Sand Rd  Wedmore. BS28 4

Applicant:  Mr & Mrs R Isgar

COMMENT: Support. This is a self build cottage style dwelling built to a high standard with sustainable heat source.  It is well away from neighbouring properties and will not have a detrimental impact on the landscape.  It will also enable a local person who grew up in the village to move back near his family.

Proposal:  Change of use of land from agricultural to domestic.  Erection of rear (South) extension and conversion of existing attached cart shed and store to living accommodation including internal alterations. Erection of detached two storey annex and garage and conversion of exisiting outbuilding from barn to office.

COMMENT Object. The accompanying documents have insufficient detail to come to a rational decision and there seems to be no justification to build a new annex when there are sufficient outbuildings that could be converted.

COMMENT: Support.  The street scene will be greatly enhanced by the proposed appearance of the extension.  The proposed improvements to the access will result in safer egress from the site due to the newly formed splay.

COMMENT: Support.  The proposal to do away with fossil fuels to create a more sustainable environment is fully supported by the Council.
