Did you know that the Wedmore Parish Council has an Emergency Plan in place? This has been produced to support the villages and hamlets across the entire Parish should an unforeseen emergency take place.
We all know that we have Emergency ‘blue light’ Services who deal with most types of emergency available by telephoning 999, but a major incident could occur within our Parish when they could not reach us quickly (such as deep snow, extensive flooding or a major incident elsewhere). This obviously means that we require an emergency plan to help ourselves in the first instance until the Emergency Services can reach the specific areas affected.
This Emergency Plan will be reviewed each year and we would ask your assistance in helping us in doing so. We can all play our part, by utilising the immense community spirit which already exists within the Parish of Wedmore and so we need to know certain things from you as either groups or individuals, namely:
- Are you a trained First-Aider or ex Health professional?
- Do you have a tractor / trailer or 4×4 vehicle with driver which could be made available?
- Do you have catering experience
- Do you have any other useful skills that would be valuable to the Parish in an emergency?
- Are you willing to make yourself available, if free to do so, to support fellow parishioners if required in an emergency situation? Here, we wish to establish an Emergency Team (Good Neighbours / Emergency Friends / Flood Wardens etc) with support from within the community. Ideally, such support would be evenly distributed across the entire Parish.
Naturally, the Parish Council would be willing to provide training where necessary and provide public liability insurance if required
