Flood Prevention Support in Wedmore: What Could Be Available?
Wedmore Parish Council has partnered with a non-profit organisation to support the launch of its updated Neighbourhood Emergency Plan, set to be published later this year. The plan will offer guidance on steps to help prevent flooding in homes and business premises across the parish.
As part of this initiative, the Emergency Volunteer Action Group (EVAG) is offering support to local residents by conducting assessments at individual properties to determine what flood prevention equipment might be needed. The equipment—such as expandable flood barriers, water absorbers, and air brick seals—will be subsidised, making it more affordable than purchasing the items privately.
If you’ve experienced flooding in your home or feel at significant risk of flooding based on information from the Gov.UK Floodline, this program may apply to you. Each case will be carefully assessed, and support will be prioritised for those most in need.
To apply, please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council with your name, address (including postcode), telephone number, and email. In your message, briefly explain why you believe you qualify for this flood prevention support.
