Lyndon Smith

Lyndon has always lived in the West Country and has been living for over 18 years in Wedmore Parish.

For the last 31 years he has been engaged in university engineering research and is currently employed at UWE Bristol as Professor in Computer Simulation and Machine Vision – as well as being Director of the Machine Vision Centre. He has developed vision systems that are now operational worldwide in various sectors, as well as supervising 21 PhDs; and publishing 200 papers, 12 patents, and 5 books.

Lyndon lives on the Somerset Levels with his wife Luiza and son Andy (both of whom are also engineers), and so in the parish council he takes a particular interest in flood prevention on the Levels. In his spare time he enjoys listening to British classics/light classics, painting, and writing books on science and technology.
